Life Journey through Small Treasures

Reflecting the bits and pieces of life treasures in jars and tins.
These must of been placed along the washroom table and one by one dropped to be found at a later time. The jar became filled and set aside as another tin began to fill.
Years past....
treasures forgotten and move to a storage closet or shed. Unable to sort or throw away.
Who knows someone may ask whatever happen to... I need it for my...
I can share & see that...
The styles of clothing changed as time went by... everyday wear to military, special occasions with rhinestones that sparkle. Pieces of jewelry misplaced in the excitement of a night out!
Keys to doors and locks, badges wore for a political event, samples of products tried. Thread attached to needles to mend that loose button. A thimble to protect that finger... Small things from small children, little buttons, cracker jack toys left in pockets. Rocks and marbles placed to find then forgotten. Shells from far off coastal beaches and a rattlesnake tail?!!!
An afternoon taking a step back in time of a families life.

Stormy Sunday

Our morning rose with deer in the yard. A tasty breakfast of fresh green grass for them and an omelet for us.
We parted to check yet another auction but no treasures found this day.
The afternoon was tasty fun also. My daughter with her wedding plans lead us to Honey Creek Resort. The Chef and Wedding Coordinator of H.C.R. put on a very elegant display of all the options of food prepared for weddings at the resort.
Generous portions of all the meats and many sauces to sample. My favorite was the Maytag Cream white sauce with chicken. But, there were 4 meat options with 8 different sauces. What delicious choices to make!!!
A wide array of appetizers were also to sample as well.
The chef came around to each family table with suggestions or helpful tips on making our decisions. Rebecca made her choices and I know all the guests will be delighted.
The storm blew in with high winds after arriving home, so i found myself without Internet. Today looks gloomy as well, but the laundry needs done and button jars to explore!!!

Button Floozie Fun

A wonderful rainy day to spend at my first auction of the season. DH and I went to a neighboring town to enjoy this fun day. One of our favorite date entertainment.
My dear friend, Brenda was there browsing the tables when I arrived. " There is a corner you will like with many buttons...." Oh how right you were Brenda.
Well, as you can see, i waited for those Auctioneers to get around to that corner of the room.
I am happy to say, I cornered the market at that event for buttons!!!
The above pictures are just out of one large jar!!!! Note even a couple of campaign buttons were found upon emptying the jar. I have decided to spread the fun and save the many jars and tins to open at a later time. So more treasures to share later.

Tribute to Oda & Roy

Another Easter prize from the egg hunt. The winner of this treasure by me, was my
2ND daughter!!!
I believe she was hoping she would be the one. Miss Maddy, told her what i was working on before the big event.
I find myself working on new projects for the many upcoming events.
Probably won't share at this time.

Wildflowers are up!

Even though the grass is just starting to green in my area...
The wildflowers can be found in the wooded areas behind the cabin.
What joy this brings!

Family Celebrates Springtime

The annual Easter egg hunt. Not found on the White House lawn but in the timber behind our cabin. We have started another fun tradition of hunting for eggs a few years ago. The timber being the most difficult but exhilarating place to discover the hidden treasures.
My DH spends much time the day previous hiding up and down the hills. So you will find him at the starting line-up giving directions for the hunt. On your mark... get set... go! I love to carry the camera and catch photos and look for signs of Spring. But the best part is sharing in the excitement of their search. The eggs are numbered and we do know how many are hidden. When everyone feels as if all have been found, we tally and then return to the cabin. Everyone is a winner as each egg is numbered and prizes correspond to number on the egg found. But...bragging rights belong to the one who finds the most eggs.
Well done hunters! It was the hardest search yet, but you only missed finding three!

Pillow Fun from Egg dyeing

My Miss Maddy had fun helping to create the pillow. She chose the great effiel tower pic we got from The Graphics Fairy. We used some of the fabrics and lace, etc we had fun dyeing on Sat. She happily helped put it together. But the best part for her was on our egg hunting contest, she had the lucky number that belonged to the prize of the very pillow! Last night i had a text asking what was that fabric we printed the photo on? She must of went to bed dreaming of making more pillows.
Maddy it is Printed Treasures...
