Project blessings to you...

Working on those Christmas projects... I have finished another 3 ornaments for my family.
will post later, as I have 2 more to complete. I find myself trying to complete the book Club project. My daughter reminded me it is this Tuesday! Oh My!
Snow has been falling all day and a great day to sit by the fire and stitch.

Do you think these guys know it's Thanksgiving?

Yet another camera cam from the woodland perch. Our wild turkey family.
We believe these are the babies, we have been watching grow all summer.
They have survived!!! No turkey platter for them!
I have many blessings to count and will be enjoying the time, I spend with my family.
Family is definitely a gift from God.... Happy Thanksgiving to families everywhere.

Bucks in my yard

This buck continues to pose for his picture on the other side of my pond. My son has a camera sit up to catch random shots of the wildlife. He is a nice one, I imagine he is looking for his lady friends... I'm off to work this weekend, everyone keep warm. It the temp here this A.M. is 13 degrees. Brrrr

Hannah's Dream

Just an update... I received a few comments on this book pick. It was Valerie's month and she chose this book because she loves animal stories. But I have to say, our club gave it very high ratings. One of the best for this year!!! The characters were well developed and very endearing, not to mention the relationships with the animals especially Hannah.

We rate books 0-5. The story and style of the author is critiqued. We have 11 members who gave scores of 4.5 to 5!!!

Highly recommend this read. You won't be disappointed.

A Year of Books with my Book Club

OMBC reads one book a month which a member has chosen. Jan. book is always a Christmas gift. That month everyone reads a different one and gives a report in February. The following month have a been assigned to the 11 members, who host the meeting and must reveal the book to all of us the previous month.

On Christmas, it is a very fun meeting for all of us! Whomever turn it is to host, has a normal book discussion of her book then.... we celebrate the year of books. It is done with much thought and deliberation from each member. We bring a gift along with the new book. The gift is placed in a big black garbage bag. We want to be fair, especially being no one can seem to choose, which bag to pick. Everyone draws a number and that clarifies the time to make the decision for a bag.

Now everyone must remember those books they read this year. Thankfully, my daughter makes a special bookmark listing all the year end books. Because your gift must be an item that represents a book read!!! When you open the gift you must guess, what it represents and which book it has came from and also which member brought the gift. So you can see, much thought is put into the gift choosing process.

Oh yes, when you pick your bag, you may reveal a wrapped package from it's black bag. { The bag is so no one has seen who brought the gift. } Now when the next person's number is due, she may steal another gift from someone or get another black bag to open. What a fun evening to kick off the holiday season.

Now my dilemma... is what, will be my gift this year?!! So I have gathered all my books to trigger my memories. I do believe one is missing from the group, but I have my bookmark!

Victorian Life

Many Victorian homes had assistance with their household chores. I love my days off, but so many projects need to be done before heading back to work.

The weather is so cold today.... Would be great to heat up the house with baking and then sit by the wood stove and stitch. If I only had one of those Victorian maids. Instead we find ourselves

winterizing the home, which leads to fall cleaning and reorganizing the house. So now I have projects in every room.

Would the Victorian days be a good thing or Not....

Are women better off now ? Or better during those times...

Buck checking out our Cabin

The bucks are very busy chasing the Ladies in our area. This morning they were in our front yard and backyard. This one is a small one, but you have to love, how he was peeking around our light. He then decided, we were safe and crossed the yard to enter the forest. Hoping to find some special ladies just for him.
I just returned from a Victorian Stitchery Retreat in Wichita, Kansas. My fun stitching partner, Barb (SIL) drove together and learned many things!
I hope to tell you more later. I can report it was a great experience for both of us.
