Dragonfly Migration?!

Friday and Saturday evening our sky was filled with dragonflies! They were high and swarming together in a definite one way direction. They appeared to be on a mission!
I always enjoy watching the flights of these beautiful insects. Our summers since living at the cabin have been honored with many flying around us. Flights of touching down to the ponds and visiting us on our porches. I understand, they love the water and placed their eggs on the water plants or in the pond itself.
I have read their lifespan is one year. But where were they going?!
Have you seen this phenomenon?
I read on Science Today, they are still studying their patterns and seem to think there is a possibility they have similarity as birds of flight. They even have placed little tracking devices on them. Wow... How did that turn out I wonder?...
Any thoughts or sightings anyone?!
What have you seen? Please let me know I am curious.

That is pretty amazing! I haven't seen any dragonflies, but I'll be on the lookout now.

I haven't seen any around our chicago suburbs. They are the most beautiful of insects and I love making them for CQ. Enjoy them while they are there.
